THE Steadfast Group has announced a sponsorship of Consett FC as the Northern League Division One side bids for promotion.
The company is supporting the table-topping North West Durham side in what is hoped will be a successful season but is already in talks over a long-term commitment to the Steelmen.
The move will see Steadfast banner boards around the Belle Vue Stadium, mentions in the club programme and a link on the club’s website.
Steadfast’s business development manager Mike McGaun, believes the move will be important in raising the company’s profile west of the city of Durham.
He said: “I come from out that way and I know that there are a lot of businesses in that neck of the woods who could benefit from our security, storage and haulage services.
“There does seem to be a bit of a psychological divide between the east and west of Durham County and our sponsorship of Consett will help us bridge that gap and raise our profile in the area.
“Steadfast trades all over the country but sometimes you’ve got to be careful not to overlook the business that might be waiting on your doorstep and hopefully that’s the case here.
“It’s important we spread our good name in the region and partnering up with Consett FC was an obvious way to do that.
“I know from personal experience that the football club is very much a community club which puts people first and that’s very much like Steadfast, which is a family-run firm.
“I’ll be pushing the message that if you need it moving, protecting or storing in North West Durham and beyond, we’re your guys.”
Consett FC chairman Frank Bell said: “We are delighted to welcome Mike and Steadfast on board and hope they will enjoy a long and successful association with us.
“We will be looking to use their services and deepen our relationship over the course of time and can recommend them to our fanbase. Details of their services are already on the sponsors’ section of our website.”
